Trip To Kukup, Johor

Its been a semester break for those studying in pubic universities. Me and my friends went to Kukup for a holiday vacation. According to Wikipedia, Kukup is a small fishing village located about forty kilometres southwest of Johor Bahru. We drove there from Batu Pahat via the North South Highway. Departing on 9.30am, we stop half way of the journey at Ayer Hitam. We took our breakfast at the famous pau shop in that area which is Tang Chuan.

After approximately 1.5 hours of driving, we finally reached Kukup. We parked our car at the nearby car park and walk a distance of 500 meters along the path towards the homestay that we booked. All of us paid a total of RM125 each person to the house owner, which is the one who responsible to plan our activities in this place. Honestly, we were so amazed to stay in a house which was built on the sea!

Our first meal was at a seafood restaurant, situated directly at the main entrance towards the fishing village. After lunch, we went back to our homestay and begin the karaoke session. For your info, nearly all of the homestay located in kukup are equipped with karaoke system. At 3.30pm, we decided to travel to the nearby island, which is the Kukup National Park. We took a boat ride at RM10 per person to the island and pay an entrance fee of RM5. As soon as we approached the island, we saw a large amount of mangrove trees. We walked along the 800 m path for about 1 hour and returned back to the jetty.

When the day turn into night, we had our barbecue dinner at the opposite homestay, where the house owner prepared for us. During the night, we walked around the village. The whole village was very happening where you can listen karaoke from almost every homestay in the village, sounds of firecracker and fireworks. After that, we resume our karaoke session until late of the night.

The next day, we had our breakfast bought by our homestay's owner. We had nasi lemak, curry puff, roti canai and some local kuih. After that, we travel by boat to the nearby kelong. We had some briefing on a few types of fish besides than visiting a souvenir shop located on the kelong.

At 1pm, we had our lunch at the same restaurant where we went on the first day. After that, we went back to our car and leave this place. Since me and my friends were going to Johor Bahru for shopping, we didn't follow the convoy back to Batu Pahat. It was an amazing trip for us!
